The total number of approved building permits for the year 2004 was recorded at 105,425 nationwide, resulting to an upward adjustment of 3 percent with respect to the total number of approved building permits reported in the preliminary series of building construction statistics. See Table A for comparative construction statistics by region and province for the final and preliminary series.
Aggregate value of construction reached Php100.5 billion or a 1 percent adjustment to the total value of construction for the preliminary data series.
Total floor area was estimated at 15.1 million square meters. The average cost per floor area is computed at Php6,664 during the year 2004.
The total 105,425 approved building permits nationwide for the year 2004 were broken down by type of construction as follows:
Residential building construction recorded the bulk (70 percent) numbering to 73,749 approved building permits.
Non-residential building construction accounted for 11,414 approved building permits or only 10.8 percent share of the total.
Combined approved building permits for additions, alterations and repairs were 20,262 or 19.2 percent of the total number of approved building permit.
Among regions in the country, Region IVA (CALABARZON) posted the highest number of approved building permits at 24,522 or 23.3 percent of the total approved building permits during the year 2004. This was followed by the National Capital Region and Region VII (Central Visayas) with respective shares of 12,714 approved building permits or 12.1 percent and 11,925 approved building permits or 11.3 percent to total.
The least number of approved building permits was recorded for Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) with only 189 approved building permits for the year 2004.
The aggregate value of construction during the year 2004 reached Php100.5 billion, broken down by type of construction as follows:
More than half (50.5 percent) of the total value of construction amounting to Php50.7 billion was for residential building construction.
Total construction value for non-residential building amounted to Php40.2 billion or 40.0 percent of the total value.
Combined value of construction for additions, alterations and repairs was Php 9.6 billion or 9.5 percentage of the total value.
